Espirit de Pusseguin 2010

Espirit de Pusseguin 2010 from Waitrose is a Merlot based blend ( Merlot/Cab Franc) from the small commune of Puisseguin within the greater St Emilion Region. It has purple glints to its mainly ruby core hinting at its youthfulness. On the nose - spice, red frits and a candy whiff, but on the palate which has silky smooth texture, the freshening acidity with textural tannins - ripe but a chalkiness, the fruit is mainly black berry fruits enrobed with spice and smokey cedar box, though lacks real concentration, shame because all the main building blocks are in place - but at the price of £10.44 from Waitrose - good value!
